Tungnath- Chandrashila is one of the best all time treks in India for beginners and for those having no experience in trekking ( specially in winters). The temple of lord Tungnath (at 3680 meters ) is the highest temple of lord Shiva in the world and includes amongst Panch kedar. Chandrashila peak (at 4120 meters) which is some 900 meters uphill from the temple presents a 360° view of breathtaking peaks of the greater Himalayas including nandadevi, hathi- ghauri, neelkanth, Kamet, temple peak, chaukhamba, kedarnath, gangotri and yamunotri. On the other hand Deoriatal (at 2400 meters) gives you the perfect inverse image of the mighty Himalayas which leaves everyone speechless. The settlement of chopta is famous for its lush green meadows and dense forest of rhododendron and oaks. Which appears different in every season.
